This year, the Elder Abuse Institute of Maine would like you get involved in Maine’s work in helping to prevent elder abuse.
This year we celebrate:
- Training—Hundreds of members of the criminal justice system have been trained through the Elder Justice Partnership. Members of Long Term Care facilities are being trained to prevent and intervene in cases of abuse through a partnership of Adult Protective Services and the Elder Abuse Institute.
- Housing—The Elder Abuse Institute has secured to build the first transitional housing in the state for elder victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
- Awareness—Members of the local and Statewide Elder Abuse Task Forces mobilize communities to raise awareness, watch out for their neighbors and break down barriers between systems and individuals.
- Community involvement—MPBN produced wonderfully honest portrayal of elder abuse , Broken Trust.
